**THE AVENGERS**: avengers to captain america : civil war. a broad verse where steve can be found living in the iconic avengers tower, ( or avengers mansion or in an apartment in brooklyn heights which may be more applicable to comic muses. ) please note he is not the ‘ leader ’ of the avengers, and if anything, shares a joint leadership with tony stark.
**POST CIVIL WAR**: after the events of captain america : civil war, where steve and his team are declared fugitives of the state. thanks to natasha and other various contacts from within new-shield / avengers hq, they get tip offs where their assistance may be needed. a particular focus is the accords’ far-reaching impacts on the mutant world and the prosecution of other ‘ unregistered ’ enhanced-powered beings. hydra is also a persisting enemy.
**THE FIVE YEARS**: after infinity war / thanos, rebuilding earth, social and political structure, helping natasha maintain a semblance of law and order in the known universe with the help of a few other-worldly friendly faces. actually having time to process the grief he has carried not only since the ‘ snap / blip ’ but from way back during the war as well.
**CURRENTLY**: after endgame. after putting back the infinity stones, a mission that takes a few months, he returns to the moment in time where he left bruce, sam, and bucky. he still passes the shield off to sam, believing that sam is better fitted to carry the symbol than him right now. he’s seen a lot, and been through a lot in the past decade alone ( not to mention his life before coming out of the ice. ) he still works with the avengers and new-shield, but he has taken a backseat on leading, filling a more advisory role. he will still step in when needed, as a commander, or when he feels like it ( he’s kind of bad at being retired. ) his main focus is getting earth back up on its feet after the second snap and quashing the multiple organisations trying to take advantage of the world’s disarray for their own gain.
